I'm very glad you did something a bit different. The production quality since the days of say, Intrinsic, has definitely improved, but I can still hear bits of both of your styles!

The use of the vocal clips reminded me of Rameses B in a good way, and the percussion was definitely working.

The only two (hopefully constructive) criticisms I have are firstly that the piano is very close on the sound stage, which is good for stuff like pop but for both energetic and expansive themes, a reverb drench send or some stereo widening could go a long way. The piano just wasn't quite as grand as I *personally* prefer it but you know, it's your piece.
Secondly the bass wasn't optimal, I LOVED the pacing of it, but generally in DnB the low end is brought up a little more, sometimes with very slight sidechaining from the kick which gives that same awesome pulse you pulled off. At least you didn't go too loud with it, I guess.

I'm just saying both the good and bad because I know this was a bit different for you both to do, so setting out what worked is good!
Nice work though, that's why it's 5 stars to me.

Lockyn responds:

Definitely feeling the production level increase! Thanks for your insightful feedback, we'll definitely reflect on that. and on the comments on the various touches - definitely see your point of view. Thank you for listening as always FL :)

Some of your hardest drops, some unique sounds, REALLY smooth mastering, and DnB beats in places.
So yeah, I LOVE this, man! Keep up the awesome work.

Xtrullor responds:

Will do!

Just let me finish this cereal first.

I'm slowly going off house, but I was made up when I saw you released something new regardless of genre.
The emotion in the melodies that's become your signature is present, plus the beat is very well mixed in and smooth, showing huge progress over just a few older works.

Always a pleasure, and thanks for making something that kind of helped me forget how messed up things are getting. x3

Alloud responds:

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for letting me know.

Just to let you know I still exist. I'm just busy with stuff. Not even all music or exams, but just weird things people wouldn't expect of me. I am sorry for not reviewing all your work.

This track is obviously very passionate, and the sound is clearer and more powerful than your old work, showing great improvement as well as an obvious good reason for the song.
I'm bad at saying supporting things, but good work and RIP Rainheart's nan.

rainheart666787 responds:

lol hey! its all good matey, i dont expect you to review everything lol. Glad to know you doing good and keeping busy and thank you for the review!

I'l get this review done quickly; The track feels a bit empty but the percussion is very well mixed and the melody has a very trippy and expansive feel. Also, a bit more variation and a new ending will send review scores right up!

unknowngoth responds:

Haha, that is very good to hear! Thank you for your time to write this review :)

Haha love it.

The elegant, cascading melodies that provoke my thoughts listening to The 14th Album in bed, combined with a very rhythm-focused structure you've never done like quite like this. Also the bass and beats are flawlessly mastered into the overall mix.

My excitement for Lazer Snail has just tripled.

Kreyowitz responds:

Dang, tripled? That's like, 3 times more or something.

Also, I don't think anyone has ever described anything i've ever done as elegant, OR cascading, so that's pretty rad.

I hope I DON'T LET YA DOWN...

But, as always, thanks for the review!

:D

Lovely tunes, and thanks for the drum hits and FLP! Hopefully I'll make some sort of tribute or inspired piece with a melody I prefer.

Octrox responds:

You're welcome :)

I'll be looking forward to an interpretation from you :D

Melodic and SUPER atmospheric, a word I use more than is normal.

I don't know what else to say, but 04:35 is awesome.
Sorry I'm not doing one of those big reviews you're used to by now, but I am tired and didn't even plan on being on Newgrounds.

Lockyn responds:

Hey FL! How are ya :D

Hahah don't worry, I use that too much too. Habitual xD Thanks so much man, no worries about big reviews, I'm getting lazy as well x3 As you can tell... I need to get reviewing! >__< Thanks for stopping by man even though you weren't planning to be here :D

I usually only REALLY enjoy Drum n' Bass, but now with this keeping the eerie and cool atmospherics but slightly switching up the once-messy ending, this has really hit a soft spot.
Cool stuff.

Spadezer responds:

Thanks. This is the first time I've done an ambient piece and I don't plan on doing many of them, but I just had to do it when I saw the picture.

And I'm glad you like the ending better. ;)

Negative out the way first, it gets a bit chaotic near the end, like at 04:55.
POSITIVES now, I really like the structure and beat, and I'm loving how atmospheric this is, the melody at 02:50 is very well mastered and sounds effective and overall just good.

Also, since I usually put lots of time thinking of stories for my tracks, I must acknowledge that you've explained your interpretation of the art piece and events pretty well.

Not perfect, but VERY close to it, especially for an artist who's only just been scouted. 4.5* here and 5/5 on the side ratings.

Spadezer responds:

I'm excited that you liked it pretty well. For the part at 04:55, I did plan it to be a bit chaotic, but do you have any suggestions at cleaning it up a little bit?

Thanks a bunch and Happy St. Patrick's day... laddie ;)

I don't use Newgrounds much and I hate everything I made before maybe 2019. Thanks for being on my profile though!
